The ten-year-old Commission Junction is a well-established developer of affiliate marketing systems, and has been used previously by other companies in the hosting business, including shared hosting giant 1&1 Internet.
Webfusion says that within hours of the affiliate program's launch, more than 200 website publishers had applied to join the program, which would enable them to earn commissions on business referred to the company by posting links on their site.
According to an affiliate program information page on the Webfusion website, affiliates earn commissions on each referral that results in a sale, with commissions reaching up to $80. The program provides them with access to a range of professionally designed banners and other marketing material.
The program is open to new affiliates, including customers of Webfusion, as well as to existing users of Commission Junction - most likely a fertile potential source of new business for Webfusion. New users can also sign up for the program through the Commission Junction site.
"With many people looking for supplemental income during these tough economic times, our affiliate program provides a unique opportunity for people to make money while they sleep," said Thomas Vollrath, CEO of Webfusion, quoted in the press release.
Earlier this year, Webfusion, a successful brand in the UK, announced that it was making a strong push into the hosting market in the US.
