Mar 13, 2009 : Sedo to Auction Off Top .ME Domains

📅 March 13, 2009 - Online domain marketplace Sedo (sedo.com) announced on Thursday that .ME Registry (domain.me) will release 35 of its top .ME domain names for online auction by Sedo from March 26 through April 2.

Released last April, more than 200,000 .me top level domains have been registered worldwide, making the country code top-level domain for Montenegro the fastest growing new ccTLD launch on record.

"All indications point to a great deal of interest in this auction," says Predrag Lesic, the .ME Registry's executive director. "People easily recognize the potential to directly communicate with their customers with the most popular personal and snappiest professional ccTLD in the world. Call-to-action dot-ME domains, like the ones offered in this auction, are the perfect way to stand out on the Internet."

Sedo will auction off some of the most desirable domains, including Bet.me, Discount.me, Download.me, Market.me, Remember.me and Sell.me.

.ME Registry was chosen by the government of Montenegro to operate the new .ME domain name extension, and counts ME-net, GoDaddy.com and Afilias Limited among its partners.

Cologne, Germany-based Sedo is an online marketplace for buying and selling domain names.

The organization has a database of domain names for sale, with more than 15 million listings.

Sedo recently released the results of its annual Secondary Domain Market Study, which showed that premium domains continued to grow in 2008, with top-selling domain names earning $77 million in revenue.

In the role, Kelly will strengthen the company's marketing efforts and help manage growth.

Last month, Netcraft announced its February 2009 survey received responses from 215,675,903 sites, which had a monthly gain of more than 30 million sites.
