📅 - MSP Alliance Launches Master Certification - The international association of managed service providers, MSPAlliance (mspalliance.com) has introduced the Accredited Master MSP designation for MSPs, to ensure that value-added resellers, IT solution providers, and even other MSPs can trust their advanced managed services.
The Master MSP certification, or MSAP, is MSPA's latest effort to safeguard the integrity of the global MSP industry, according to the organization, which represents more than 7,000 MSPs and service enabling technology vendors.
Do IT Smarter (doitsmarter.com), which helps VARs and IT service providers successfully build their MSP practice, was among the first MSPs to gain accreditation.
📅 - Afilias Launches Managed DNS Service - Domain registry operator Afilias (www.afilias.info) announced on Tuesday that it has introduced a commercially available managed DNS service for business.
The organization is entering a crowded market, but is doing so with a product built on a global DNS network that supports 15 registries, including the very popular .info, .org and .me, among others.
Among the very successful recently-released domains, the .me registry recently passed the 200k registration mark.
According to the press release, Afilias supports more than 14 million domains across those 15 TLDs, a business that stretches back over eight years.

📅 - Cyrus One Expands Dallas Data Center - Colocation provider CyrusOne (cyrusone.com) announced on Wednesday it plans to expand its Dallas-area data center, adding 81,000 square feet to its existing 80,000 square foot Lewisville facility to meet the strong demand for data center space in Texas markets.
CyrusOne has also commissioned two new data halls spanning 25,000 square feet in its existing 125,000 square foot Houston campus.
Once it is completed, CyrusOne will occupy about 310,000 square feet of data center space in Texas between five facilities, including two in Houston and three in Dallas.
The expansion comes at a time when many data center operators are scaling back their data center
📅 - Bay Area Internet Building Data Center - In the second such announcement of the day, data center operator Bay Area Internet Solutions (bayarea.net -> vxchnge.com -> hostinger.com) reported on Wednesday that is will build a Santa Clara data center, even as the harsh economic climate has many data center companies halting or postponing building plans.
Earlier in the day, Texas colocation firm Cyrus One reported that it would add 81,000 square feet to an 80,000 square foot facility in Lewisville, along with expanding a Houston facility.
According to the press release, BAIS is building an 83,000 square foot facility in Santa Clara, a state of the art data center with the capacity to house more than 2,000 racks. The company also reports tha
