Feb 10, 2009 : DCP Working Session Approaches

📅 - Only five months old, industry organization Data Center Pulse (datacenterpulse.com) will be holding its first face to face meeting next week, in a one-and-a-half day "working session" where attendants will discuss the hot topics in the DCP community, which was created to combine social networking and strict monitoring to create a forum for IT professionals in the data center field.

While much discussion of Web hosting has naturally gone online to forums like Web Hosting Talk (webhostingtalk.com), DCP's mandate has included encouraging on-topic online discussion as well as face-to-face discussion and networking.

Held February 17 and 18 in Santa Clara, California, the topics and content of the event will be defined and driven by the DCP community members.

Furthermore, DCP's charter is avoiding the trappings of traditional trade shows by stipulating that there are to be no affiliations with any vendor or industry group and no advertising or booths - just input from the industry to target the discussions.

The working sessions involve working between peers to discuss the top 10 topics, with the results of these discussions to be presented to the industry immediately after the meeting is concluded at the AFCOM NorCal Chapter (afcomnorcal.com) meeting on February 18 and discussed in detail at the Teladata Technology Convergence Conference (teladatatcc.com) on February 19.

Attendees are expected to participate within one of two topic tracks, the "Data Center Pulse Community Interest" track and the "Data Center Industry Interest" track. Topics in each track will be decided democratically. Ten leaders will also be selected to run the different topics, which will serve a minimum six month term.
