📅 - Direct Thought (directthought.com) is developing an iPhone console application that monitors and controls a user's Amazon Web Services' (aws.amazon.com👉 Total Reviews: 1 🙌 Average Rating: 10 / 10 👍 Good Reviews: 1 👎 Bad Reviews: 0 👈 Official Responses: 0) EC2 environment from their phone.
According to the company's announcement, Direct Thought's native iPhone application gives administrators access and control of their EC2 instances and volumes, as well as having control over snapshots, addresses and keypairs, all from the touch screen of their cell phone.
"Because it is a native application, it doesn't rely on any other server," the company's statement read. "All you rely on are your iPhone, Amazon's servers and your Internet connection." The console is currently under development and has been tested on the iPhone and iPod touch.
The Amazon Web Services blog has registered their excitement over this client, which they note is based on the underlying client toolkit (cTypica), licensed under the Apache 2.0 License. The AWS blog reads, "My mind immediately went to 'Sitting in Maui, umbrella drink by the pool, time to add a few more instances to my Amazon EC2 server fleet by tapping on the iPhone. Ahhh...'"
Direct Thought has posted some preliminary screen shots of the console, however, it notes that there may be changes before the application is refined prior to release.
Microsoft (microsoft.com) International Software + Services division blogger Steve Clayton has taken notice. Clayton wrote, "Hats off to Amazon as they continue to innovate on the AWS platform at a rate of knots. They also seem to be sporting phatter iPhones than the rest of us but they're running the iPhone console for EC2 which may be the reason why."
