Jan, 2009 : Zen Internet Launches Colocation Service

📅 January 27, 2009 - UK Internet service provider Zen Internet (zen.co.uk) announced on Monday it has launched its new colocation service from its Rochdale, UK data center to meet customer demand for more data center space.

In its press release, Zen Internet - previously a provider of ISP services and dedicated and managed hosting - the new colocation servive will provide a "cost-effective way of securely hosting customers' mission critical IT infrastructure" by "providing reliable and fast Internet access for Internet or Intranet services."

The service provides both shared and dedicated rack options to suit varying requirements related to the size of installation.

"Zen is primarily seen as a broadband provider but we are continually investing in other complimentary products and services such as hosting," says David Barber, senior product manager at Zen Internet. "We are committed to expanding our hosting portfolio to meet our customers' requirements now and so we are delighted to be able to provide this new colocation service."

Zen's colocation service launch comes at an opportune moment, as more than 85 percent of London, UK data centers are nearly filled to capacity, resulting in lease costs doubling in the past 12 months.

Located at its Rochdale, UK headquarters, Zen's colocation data center is capable of holding over 1,000 servers.

The facility is closely monitored around the clock by automated management systems, CCTV and onsite security guards.

Additionally, the data center has stringent environmental controls and resilient power supplies in place.

Founded in 1995, Zen Internet provides a range of Internet services to businesses and individuals, including broadband, leased lines, IP VPN, voice, domain registration, Windows and Linux web hosting, dedicated servers, managed hosting, colocation, managed network security firewalls, online data backup and web design.
