📅 - Creating a clearing house for data center information, data center and Internet exchange services provider Switch and Data (switchanddata.com -> equinix.com) has built a section of its site that contains links to reliable data center industry information sources, as well as whitepapers.
According to its Tuesday announcement, Switch and Data's "Information and Connections" page provides links to respected industry news and research sites such as Data Center Knowledge (datacenterknowledge.com) and the Web Host Industry Review (thewhir.com), as well as green data center organizations such as The Green Grid (thegreengrid.org), and sections on "IP traffic metrics," "peering and Internet exchange" and "Data Centers In The News."
Providing links that those in the data center business may already have bookmarked, this site will also help newcomers trying to better understand the industry.
Switch and Data's new Information and Connections section also contains information on the company's Web MarketPlace, a dynamic, searchable database where Switch and Data customers actively promote their participation, products and capabilities to companies looking for information about data center services.
The Information and Connections resource is part of Switch and Data's new corporate website, which launched December 14.
Citing a Tier 1 research report, switch and Data said global online data center demand has grown 14 percent in the past year, met by only a six percent increase in supply. As online traffic grows and the network technology becomes more complex, Switch and Data notes that companies will look more and more into data center services network infrastructure expenditures, which require careful evaluation.
"Switch and Data introduced the Information and Connections section of our new website to help customers, prospects, the media, and investors find relevant industry information quickly and easily," Switch and Data senior marketing vice president Ernie Sampera said in a statement. "In 2009 we will expand our effort to provide relevant content to help companies make smart data center investments that meet their needs today and into the future."
