Dec 15, 2008 : DCE09 Focuses on Outsourcing

📅 - IT services consultancy firm BroadGroup (broad-group.com) announced on Monday that its upcoming 5th Annual Data Centres Europe 2009 (datacentres.com/dce), which takes place April 22 to 23, 2009, will have a significant focus on third-party enterprises.

In November, BroadGroup held its second regional Data Centre Asia 2008 Conference in Singapore, where the company revealed new research that showed that data centers and data center outsourcing in the Asia market continues to grow, despite the global recession.

In the past, the DCE conference has concentrated mostly on in-house data centers. But at the recent finance and investment forum, which was attended by data center operators, financiers and investors, BroadGroup revealed that a sustained business model for data centers that can survive the current economic downturn.

In other words, as enterprises facing significant cost cuts turn to third-party outsourcing as a solution rather than managing these services in-house, these third-party data centers continue to grow.

The 2009 edition of the annual conference will center around four key issues for data centers, starting with ways to ensure highly efficient tactics and strategies for IT delivery in the near and longer term.

Other issues include pricing, SLAs, and benchmarking third party outsourcing as the next wave of enterprise outsourcing accelerates with the economic downturn; the impact of horizon services, SaaS and cloud computing; and leveraging the latest energy technologies, carbon reduction and super cooling.

The conference will take place at the newly opened America Square Conference Centre in London, UK, where enterprises, data centers and companies in the data center sector will come together.

"Both our own surveys and those cited by industry players suggest that in Europe now, attention and focus is on enterprises and outsourcing to third party data centers," says Nicola Hayes, vice president at BroadGroup. "In what will be a momentous year ahead, we have dedicated this fifth annual forum to discuss their key concerns. We will be hearing from some of the leading CIOs across the European region, drawing lessons from the North America experience, and creating frameworks for enterprises to rationalize their most critical decisions in the months and year ahead."

DCE09 will also host the annual awards ceremony for the sector, which will include awards for Best Corporate Facility, Best Managed Services Data Center, Best Colocation Facility, Best Risk Mitigation Service Provider, Best Data Center Environmental Policy, Best Regional European Data Center, Best pan-European Service Provider, Best Data Center Consolidation Programme, Best New Entrant into the Data Center Market and a special Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Data Center Sector.

Nominations for these awards close December 31.

BroadGroup is currently offering the first 100 tickets for a special price of 399 pounds for the entire DCE09 Passport, as well as the awards ceremony and dinner. The company says  it will release the full program and lead speaker details in early January 2009.
