📅 December 16, 2008 - IT hosting provider ThePlanet.com Internet Services (theplanet.com -> softlayer.com -> ibm.com) has extended its entire line of Alpha Advanced Services to the Microsoft's Windows platform, letting Windows users take advantage of The Planet's full range of advanced server management services including server monitoring, security and administration, and managed backup.

According to the company's Tuesday announcement, The Planet's add-on management services, which have been available for Linux customers since July, will help Windows-based server customers lower operational costs and add to or improve the security and availability of their hosted environments.

Designed to supplement the administration and maintenance of customers' self-managed dedicated servers and to create the optimal management plan for their businesses, The Planet advanced services division general manager Todd Mitchell said that Alpha Advanced Services was designed for customers who lacked the IT staff or time need for maintenance, security or backup of their servers. "Alpha Advanced Services fills that gap, so customers can leave the management of their servers to a team of knowledgeable IT professionals," Mitchell said in a statement.

"With the expansion of our Advanced Services to the Windows platform, even more customers can reap the benefits of these individual management modules and choose the solution combination that works best for their business requirements."

ATM Web Design (atmwebdesign.ca) has used The Planet's Alpha Advanced Services to manage its servers, which handle tasks from Web site design and development to hosting and technical support.

"Planet Alpha Advanced Services provides us with additional support and service for our servers, the lifeblood of our business," ATM Web Design owner Andrew Oldroyd said in a statement. "Their dedicated team of professionals ensures that our servers are consistently backed up and operating properly, which frees up valuable time that we can use to focus on growing our business."
