Dec 12, 2008 : iWeb Hosts Montreal Canadiens Site

📅 December 12, 2008 - Canadian web hosting provider iWeb (iweb.com ) announced on Friday it is hosting NHL hockey team Montreal Canadiens' "Our History" (http://ourhistory.canadiens.com), the official website for its centennial celebrations which highlights the history of the Montreal hockey team.

The project's developers, Bluesponge and Turbulent Media, is using iWeb's infrastructure to "ensure the performance and availability of the site during the anticipated high-traffic periods." The site's developers chose to enlist the help of iWeb based on its experience with projects whose performance and availability are key success factors.

According to the press release, the website is a historic first in the world of professional sports, offering a broad view of the history of the Montreal Canadiens, including access to hundreds of player's biographies, thousands of videos, photos and statistics as well as the detailed results of every game played by the team in the last 100 years.

The creative teams at Bluesponge and Turbulent Media completed the development portion of the Our History site, after which iWeb designed, configured and provisioned a dedicated server cluster.

"We are delighted to be helping fans enjoy this historic element of the Montreal Canadiens' centennial celebrations," says Eric Chouinard, president and CEO of iWeb.

iWeb, which recently opened its head office on Nuns' Island area of Montreal, has worked with many local organizations. Last week, the company named its new director of human resources, Michel Thivierge, who most recently served in human resources role for the Montreal-based attraction, Cirque du Soleil.

In September, iWeb completed a $22 million financing agreement with investment banking giant Goldman Sachs Credit Partners. Founded in 1996 in Montreal, iWeb now has over 130 full-time employees providing dedicated server hosting, colocation and web hosting services to more than 17,000 customers in 145 countries.
