According to CrystalTech's Tuesday announcement, the partnership enables CrystalTech to integrate PayPal services into its e-commerce tool set, giving businesses the option to sign up and implement PayPal as a payment option on their websites.

"Millions of PayPal customers worldwide enjoy the security and convenience of not having to enter in credit card information when shopping online," Newtek Technology Services president and chief operating officer Bob Cichon said in a statement. "Our customers can now leverage PayPal's built-in convenience and customer base to boost sales and increase checkout conversion."

CrystalTech's partnership with PayPal is the latest enhancement to its e-commerce offerings in recent months, including the release of its Newtek Shopping Cart, a powerful shopping cart and website builder application, which can now be easily integrated with PayPal Express Checkout.

"As a division of Newtek, CrystalTech is in the unique position to offer a completely in-house, one-stop e-commerce solution to businesses," Cichon said. "From top to bottom, we're providing businesses with world-class hosting, several shopping cart solutions, including our own, easy-to-setup Newtek Shopping Cart, traditional credit card payment processing, and now integrated access to setup PayPal. We've made it our priority to help businesses get online without the hassle of pulling each of these components from different sources."

In a blog post from over a year ago, InternetMerchant business development vice president Peter Damato wrote that PayPal has been lagging behind most traditional payment processors, which are known to offer attractive revenue sharing programs to hosting partners. "While they offer a low-cost, affordable solution, and are a good fit for your customers that are just starting their online businesses, you won't be able to enjoy much additional revenue for referring them to PayPal."

Earlier in November, communications giant AT&T (att.com/webhosting) added e-commerce capabilities to its professional hosting services, which specifically noted that it uses PayPal as the method of transaction for online payments.
