📅 October 1, 2008 - Data center services provider VISI (visi.com ) launched a quirky online game on its blog called Interstellar Pizza Express to showcase the security and uptime practices of VISI's data center services by having customers try out being an IT manager for a business.

According to VISI's announcement Tuesday, the game demonstrates the many elements of a successfully managed e-commerce solution in a fun, visually-engaging way. The game's objective is to make money by running "Interstellar Pizza Express," an online pizza delivery company in space.

Interstellar Pizza Express is a quirky web-based game that simulates hosting an e-commerce website.

Taking on the role of "IT Commander" of a pizza shop floating in space, the player must choose between hosting in-house or working with VISI to host an e-commerce website. (Tip: For the highest score, choose the second option.)

Every round, players spend their budget on server upgrades and safeguards, and also adjust the price of pizzas and extra toppings. Interstellar Pizza Express will make money or face roadblocks depending on the decisions the player makes.

The Interstellar Pizza Express player with the top score each month from October 2008 to March 2009 will win a 16GB iPod Nano.
