Aug 27, 2008 : Layer42 Adds Transmode in California

📅 - Santa Clara, California-based colocation, and managed and dedicated services provider Layer42 (layer42.com) has completed installing new equipment from optical networking solutions firm Transmode (transmode.com), improving its network and quality of services.

According to a Wednesday announcement, Transmode TM-Series equipment was installed because Layer42 needed higher bandwidth across the fiber network connecting San Francisco with San Jose.

"The installation of Transmode's TM Series equipment enables us to meet the bandwidth needs of our customers in our increasingly busy San Francisco to San Jose connection," Layer42 president Steve Rubin said in a statement. "The fact that the Transmode's system allow us to expand in a modular way was one of the major factors in our choice of this supplier."

Layer42's portfolio of services include hardware and software solutions for businesses and access to a carrier-grade, fully redundant network.

Stockholm, Sweden-based Transmode designs optical networking solutions, based on intelligent Wavelength Division Multiplexing-technology, boosting the "capacity and flexibility of regional, metro and metro-access networks," according to the company. According to Transmode, the TM-Series is a flexible and scalable platform that integrates seamlessly into existing networks.

"Transmode is pleased to be the key supplier and adviser for Layer 42's expansion in the Californian marketplace," North America regional sales director Johan Hammarström said in a statement. "This growth is validation of both Layer 42's business model and of Transmode as their optical networking supplier. With our dedicated North American team and our characteristic consultative sales approach we are in a very strong position to meet the needs of growing US and Canadian communications companies."
