Jul 15, 2008 : Future Hosting Enhances Backup
📅 - Web hosting provider Future Hosting (futurehosting.biz -> futurehosting.com -> nexcess.net) announced on Tuesday it has significantly enhanced its Future Protect data backup service, which provides around-the-clock backup for virtual private servers and dedicated servers.
The announcement comes off the heels of the company's expansion of its virtual private server offerings and will begin providing VPS services from a Washington, DC facility.
The upgrade enables Future Protect to offer backup intervals as short as two hours in the event of a disaster, which significantly eliminates the threat of a major outage. The backup service previously offered six hour backup intervals.
Future Hosting has also introduced a new MySQL add-on component with the upgrade, enabling the system to provide near-continuous protection for active MySQL databases.
The feature enables granular restoration of segments of data, so server administrators can decide for themselves which data they want to retrieve from a past restore point.
"Future Protect has been designed from the ground up to cater the needs of our clients, and provide a layer of defense against potential data loss," says Charles Kowalski, Future Hosting COO. "Combined with other infrastructure we use to mitigate the threat of data loss, including redundant RAID arrays in nearly all servers, Future Protect helps ensure the level of service our clients require."
Future Protect is a data protection service developed exclusively for Future Hosting customers. Using Continuous Data Protection technology from R1Soft (r1soft.com), Future Protect creates complete backups every two hours of all customer data, which is then encrypted and archived on a remote backup server.
In April, Future Hosting joined data recovery solutions provider R1Soft's Hosting Partner Program.
