Apr 14, 2008 : Parallels Adds Beta 3 for Mac Server

📅 - Web hosting software provider Parallels (parallels.com), a company formerly known as SWsoft, recently announced it has released the third beta of its Parallels Server for Mac. The application uses Parallels' Hypervisor technology to enable the hardware to run different operating systems and software.

Parallels Server for Mac is designed to enable users to run virtualized operating system and server environments. This release marks the latest edition of its server virtualization software for Intel powered Apple Macs.

Collaborating with Apple, Parallels says it will soon release the virtualized Mac OS X server, however, it has not given a time frame as to when it will be available.

The beta 3 release of the software includes several enhancements, such as an integrated set of tools including Parallels Tools, Image Tools and Transporter. It has also added SDK and API to assist with development.

The application also enables users to standardize server hardware platforms, consolidate server resources, simplify software testing and development, and optimize server and application availability. Additionally, users can streamline server and application deployment, maintenance and management, and consolidate and support legacy operating systems and applications.

Parallels Server for Mac includes a command line tool and support for scripting languages and supports Intel virtualization technology, as well as 32 and 64-bit platform and guest OS support.
