Mar 31, 2008 : Fujitsu Opens Thailand Facility

📅 - IT services provider Fujitsu (fujitsu.com) announced on Monday that its affiliate Fujitsu Systems Business (fujitsu.com/th/en/) has opened a new data center in Bangkok, Thailand in an effort to offer more services to Japanese companies coming to do business there.

Fujitsu says that the business environment in Thailand has been developing rapidly due to the establishment of investment rules and the liberalization of the services sector, encouraging more and more Japanese corporations to set up local operations and invest in Thailand.

Located in the Bang Na district of Bangkok, the new facility is equipped with a wide range of prevention features, including fire and water-leak detection systems, says Fujitsu. The facility comes with main and spare power lines, uninterruptible power supply and an ongoing power generator to assure continuous systems operation even in the event of a disaster, giving the center the flexibility to respond to various customer requirements.

In terms of security, the new facility uses Fusitsu's own PalmSecure palm vein biometric authentication system and operators are onsite around-the-clock monitoring customer system status and providing periodic incident reports to provide a level of service on par with data centers in Japan, says the company.

The facility ties into both overland network lines as well as submarine cables, minimizing the risk of downtime from earthquakes, floods or other natural disasters.

Fujitsu System Business VP Tavanant Nikhua recently told the Bangkok Post that the company invested close to 120 million baht, or approximately $3.8 million, in the new data center and that the full range of services the facility will provide includes IT data center infrastructure, collocation services, network connections, disaster recovery services, information lifecycle management as well as managed services like system management, network management, security management and IT operations.

Fujitsu says that it runs 80 data centers with competencies in 29 languages in 16 countries and that along with Fujitsu Siemens Computers it is among the world's top five providers of servers.
