Mar 25, 2008 : Emerson Electric Co. Buys Aperture

📅 March 25, 2008 - Data center software provider Aperture Technologies (aperture.com) announced on Tuesday that electrical products manufacturer Emerson Electric Company (emerson.com) has completed its acquisition of Aperture, which was first proposed by shareholders on February 25. The terms of the financial agreement were not disclosed.

Emerson has acquired 100 percent of Aperture's share capital. Aperture will continue to be led by Bill Clifford, only it will operate now as an autonomous business division of Emerson Network Power which has annual revenues of approximately $5.2 billion.

The company's Liebert-branded power, cooling and monitoring products and services are used by companies around the world to manage critical data center applications. Emerson Network Power is a division of Emerson, which reported 2007 revenues of $22.6 billion.

Aperture's VISTA is an enterprise software solution that delivers IT service management processes to reduce operational risk and improve efficiency within the data center.

"I am excited about the completion of this acquisition, which has gone very smoothly and has had such positive support from our customers, partners and employees," says Clifford. "With the strength of Emerson behind us, Aperture's VISTA product line will continue to be the market leading software solution for complex data center management."

Emerson's shares rose 79 cents to $51.53 on Tuesday afternoon.

Last November, Aperture joined the BladeLogic Data Center Alliance program, providing IT organizations with a unified platform to integrate physical and logical infrastructure for managing change and compliance in the data center.

📅 Mar 24, 2008 - FBI Probe Darfur Protest Site Hack - The US Federal Bureau of Investigation announced on Friday that it has begun a preliminary investigation following reports that hackers in China have broken into the email accounts of leaders and members of the Save Darfur Coalition (savedarfur.org). According to the Washington Post (washingtonpost.com), the accounts of 10 members were hacked into between early February and last week, and the hackers have also gained access to the organization's Web server.
