📅 - Global IT services firm Electronic Data Systems (EDS) unveiled remote Enterprise Application Management (EAM) services today, enabling companies realize the cost benefits of implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software applications much faster.
ERP applications are integrated packages of software supporting a company's entire enterprise, including financial, sales, manufacturing, logistics and human resources. Companies that install ERP applications often find that managing them is more difficult and expensive than expected, due to the complex nature of these applications and the scarce specialized resources required for support. EDS' new remote EAM services, which were previously provided at the client location, assure responsibility for application management, saving the client time, resources and money.
EDS currently supports more than 170 ERP clients, totaling approximately 350,000 users in 22 countries, through EAM services. These services now provide remote application support through a worldwide virtual team of skilled professionals that integrates with existing dedicated customer support teams to provide clients with application management and optimization services customized for their specific ERP environments.
IDC forecasts that the worldwide application outsourcing market will grow to $118 billion by 2004. The Gartner Group estimates the market opportunity for ERP application management and optimization will grow to more than $16 billion by 2003.
