As electronic commerce continues to replace more traditional businesstransactions, providing the means for secure business dealings to take placeacross the Internet becomes critical. While a firewall protects theintegrity of a network, a VPN allows businesses to construct secure,protected "tunnels" through which business dealings can take place. VPNs canbe used to connect business locations securely and directly to each otherwithout the need for dedicated leased lines; they may also be used toconnect remote users or sites securely with a central location.
"One of the biggest obstacles to implementing a VPN solution successfully isits complexity.
