📅 August 16, 2001 - Register.com, Inc., a leading provider of global domain name registration and Internet services, Wednesday announced the official launch of Registry Advantage, a full-service domain registry solution that enables registries of all sizes to use a more advanced and reliable registry infrastructure.

The announcement marks Register.com's official entry into the domainregistry space through the company's Registry Outsource business unit.
Register.com will launch Registry Advantage for its first clients, Nic AG,operator of the .ag registry, the top-level domain for Antigua and 6thDimension, marketing agent of the .sc registry, the top-level domain for theSeychelles. Using the Registry Advantage solution, both registries will beable to offer their clients near real-time domain name resolution, advancedWhois capabilities, 24x7 customer support, and online client managementapplications. The infrastructure was designed to support millions oftransactions daily and is globally distributed to maximize performance andreliability. Register.com will receive a registry fee for every .ag and .scdomain name registered, regardless of the registrar.
