Oct, 2001 : Sprint opens Internet data center in Atlanta

📅 October 18, 2001 - Sprint Corp. (sprint.com) announced that it is expanding its services to the Peach State by opening another Sprint E|Solutions Internet Center in Atlanta, Ga.

The 100,000-square-foot Internet center will be the seventh SprintE|Solutions has opened across the country. Pre-selling for the Atlantacenter has begun and the state-of-the-art facility is available forcustomer occupancy today. A grand opening event is scheduled for Nov. 16,2001.
The Atlanta Internet center will offer Sprint's customers application andWeb-hosting support, collocation, monitoring and reporting performance,and IT professional services. Sprint E|Solutions also provides managedservices for customers, including Business Continuity Planning, security,Internet VPN, and Mobile Computing Solutions.

Inaddition, Sprint's comprehensive support provides a variety ofmanaged-server applications and transport services, all backed byaward-winning customer service.
The Atlanta Internet center features a secure and reliable physicalenvironment to safeguard the data that is at the heart of every business.This world-class facility is custom designed with raised floors, HVACtemperature-control systems and private, locked cabinets and cages. Sprint has previously stated its plans to expand its Internet data centercapacity through year-end 2002. The Atlanta facility joins otheroperational Sprint E|Solutions Internet Centers in New York City, Boston,Dallas, Kansas City, Reston, Va., and Sacramento, Calif. Additionalcenters planned for opening in 2001 include Denver, Los Angeles and SanJose, Calif.
Currently, Sprint manages more than 1.5 million square feet of hostingspace.
