Oct, 2001 : CSC to Provide Distributed Computing Services to GSA
📅 - Computer Sciences Corporation (csc.com) has won four task orders with the General Services Administration (gsa.gov) under a blanket purchase agreement to provide distributed computing services throughout the agency's Federal Supply Service (FSS).
The task orders are collectively valued at $63 million if all options areexercised over a 10-year period. Under the task orders, CSC will providetechnical support in the areas of client services, local area networkservices, voice and data services and help-desk services.
The company will deploy new systems and operate, maintain and enhance GSA'sexisting distributed computing services. "CSC is pleased to expand ourrelationship with GSA and support the FSS as it supports so many domesticand internationally based agencies," said Elaine Dauphin, vice president ofGSA Programs at CSC. "We look forward to leveraging commercial bestpractices and procedures to provide the GSA with proven approachesapplicable to the FSS distributed computing environment."
Approximately 60 distributed computing specialists from CSC's Civil Groupwill perform the work called for in the task orders at GSA's FSSheadquarters in Crystal City, Va. Teaming with CSC are Dell Computer Corp.of Round Rock, Texas, which will provide product expertise, and DatabaseConnection, which will offer specialized support. Since 1949, GSA has housedfederal workers and provided products and services to support the importantwork of government throughout the world.
GSA has negotiated contracts that account for $40 billion of goods andservices bought annually from the private sector.
The mission of GSA FSS is to provide leadership, through guiding principlesand operating programs, which assure that the federal government'srequirements for personal property and administrative services areefficiently met, at the lowest cost to the taxpayer.
