Oct, 2001 : Internap Extends Reach to 50 Data Centers

📅 October 25, 2001 - Telseon (telseon.com), a metropolitan network provider, and Internap Network Services (internap.com -> inap.com), a provider of intelligent routing services, announced yesterday an agreement enabling Internap to virtually extend its service into 50 data centers and carrier hotels via Telseon's Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) metro networks. The agreement enables Internap to expand its market reach at no additional capital expense.

Under the agreement, Internap gains access to Telseon on-net locations ineight major markets with fast GigE interconnectivity between locationswithin those markets, including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, NewYork, Northern Virginia, San Francisco and Seattle. With Telseon, Internapincreases its metro footprint without spending approximately $25 millionthat would be necessary to physically build service extensions in each datacenter. Additionally, Internap signed a reseller agreement with Telseon tooffer its Gigabit Ethernet service nationally.
"Customers not only benefit from the speed and reliability of Telseon GigEconnections to Internap Service Points in those markets, but alsoprovisioning times between 3 and 5 days, compared to local loop service thatcan take more than a month to provision," said Paul Hanson, local accessproduct manager for Internap Network Service. "Before this agreement wassigned, Telseon passed Internap engineering tests to ensure that customerswill receive the same high standards of service to which they have becomeaccustomed."
