Oct, 2001 : Frontline Launches Nationwide Satellite Internet Service
📅 - Frontline Communications Corp. (fcc.net), yesterday announced that it has launched a high-speed satellite Internet service aimed at residential and business customers.
The service, available nationwide, is designed to be a solution in areaswhere other broadband products are not deployed, are too expensive, or areunreliable. The company reports that early sales results, especially inareas where other broadband services are not available, have been extremelyencouraging.
"The primary barriers to the success of ISPs in the residential broadbandmarket have been availability restrictions and slow delivery times ofbroadband products like DSL," said Frontline CEO Stephen J. Cole-Hatchard."This system allows us to provide a reliable high-speed solution to anyonewith a view of the southwestern sky, delivered in just two weeks, whichmakes it highly marketable. In addition, we have the complete freedom tocreate our own service packages and develop future products based on marketconditions and our customers' needs."
The Frontline high-speed satellite system is being retailed starting at$34.99 a month, making it less expensive than many DSL and cable Internetservices. marketing plans include a regional direct marketing effort and thedevelopment a wholesale program targeting other ISPs, which are experiencingcustomer attrition from DSL and cable Internet providers.
