Casio and Sierra Wireless Team to Deliver Connectivity for PDAs


📅 - Casio (casio.com) and Sierra Wireless (sierrawireless.com),announced yesterday that they are working together to deliver numerouswireless solutions to the mobile user.

The agreement involves the development of Sierra Wireless AirCard wirelessmodems to support the new CASSIOPEIA BE-300 and the recently introducedE-200 Pocket PC 2002 model. Sierra Wireless will also continue to workclosely with Casio to ensure that the wireless technologies are integratedwith other Casio Personal Digital Assistants. The agreement names SierraWireless as the exclusive provider of CDMA and GPRS PC Card wireless modemproducts for Casio in North America.
The collaboration provides an important benefit to PDA users who demandincreased efficiency and effectiveness while away from the office. TheCassiopeia Pocket manager BE-300 and the Pocket PC E-200 are both examplesof Casio's emphasis on expandability and wireless connectivity. The SierraWireless AirCard modems will enable business users to securely accesscritical corporate information through wireless connectivity to a host ofapplications including e-mail and corporate networks.
"Our wide portfolio of expandable PDAs will give users the flexibility tohave information in a tight, integrated package," said Gary Schultz,director of marketing for Casio's mobile information products division. "Weare excited to work with an innovative partner, like Sierra Wireless, todeliver wireless data connectivity to growing number of PDA users who wantthe flexibility and freedom to access information on the go."
Both Sierra Wireless and Casio are members of the WirelessReady Alliance, aprogram founded by Sierra Wireless that unites wireless industry-leadingmembers in the development of wireless data solutions.
