Interliant Sells Shared Web Hosting Business to Interland Robert B. Marks
📅 - Interliant, Inc. said today it has sold its shared and unmanaged retail Web hosting business to Interland, Inc. for an undisclosed sum as part of the company's "ongoing restructuring." Interliant (interliant.com), a worldwide Application Service Provider based in Purchase, NY, provides a suite of services that include managed hosting, security, and professional services. Interland (Interland.com👉 Total Reviews: 2 🙌 Average Rating: 5 / 10 👍 Good Reviews: 1 👎 Bad Reviews: 1 👈 Official Responses: 0), is one of the Internet's leading Web hosts, hosting over 300,000 sites through a merger with Micron Electronics earlier this year. The sale is part of a restructuring that began in April 2001, when Interliant began to focus on a set of four core services including managed messaging, managed hosting, security, and its INIT Branded solutions, along with a number of associated professional services. Since then, the company has made several moves to sell off extraneous services, including the July sale of its ERP/CRM hosting business. "The sale of our retail hosting business - one of our non-core business areas - is another step in the execution of our restructuring strategy. Interliant will continue to be a major player in the Web hosting sector through our Branded Solutions offerings," said Bruce Graham, Interliant president and CEO, in a release. "To support our OEM, private label and referral partners, we have made a significant investment in the development of a flexible, scalable, secure platform." Graham said Interliant "will work closely with Interland to provide a seamless transition for our retail Web hosting customers." During the transition period, affected servers will remain in the company's Atlanta data center while Interland migrates the customers to its own Atlanta data center. The process is expected to last two to three months.
