📅 May 10, 2001 - Interland Inc. (interland.com ), a leader in providing Web hosting solutions, announced on Wednesday that it would begin to offer RealNetworks? RealSystem iQ streaming media technology.

Deployed across Interland's network, the service is designed to provide the company's small and medium-sized enterprise customers with a system for streaming media transfer that, according to the company, is highly scalable and reliable.
Interland says it will extend its streaming media hosting services to both its shared and dedicated hosting environments, allowing all its customers to deliver streaming content in a wide range of formats, including RealAudio 8 and RealVideo 8, on a per stream basis. The company will deliver the solution to its customers using RealSystem iQ's standards-based architecture.
According to Interland, RealNetworks? Internet media solutions will enable the Web host's customers worldwide to add digital streaming audio and video to enhance their Web sites, and Web-based multimedia presentations. The company says the addition of the new services is part of its commitment to adopting next-generation technology.
RealNetworks Inc. says it is pleased that Interland has chosen to provide its more than 54,000 customers with RealSystem iQ integrated into its Web hosting services. The company says that as the market for digital media delivery continues to grow, it will continue to focus on delivering leading edge solutions to its customers and partners.
Interland says that analysts predict the market for streaming media services will grow from about $140 million in 2000 to $2.6 billion by 2005. The industry served about 5000 terabytes in 2000, and analysts expect a 120 percent increase in 2001.
