Sep, 2001 : Interland Pledges Sept. 11 Revenue to Disaster Relief

📅 September 22, 2001 - As a symbolic gesture of solidarity with and empathy for the thousands of Americans who were directly affected by the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks, Atlanta-based Web hosting company Interland, Inc. (interland.com ), will donate all revenue it received from new sales of Interland services on that day to relief efforts.

The company said many of its employees are adding their own contributions,donating all or part of their own salaries from that day. The combinedcontributions will be donated to the Sept. 11th Fund, which was establishedby the United Way (unitedway.com) and The New York Community Trust(nycommunitytrust.org) to respond to the urgent and long-term needs of victims and their families affected by the attacks.
"In searching for a way to contribute to relief efforts, we grappled to findsomething that would have a symbolic meaning, as well," said Interland CEOJoel J. Kocher. "As an infrastructure provider, our employees knew it wasimportant that they remain on the job in the wake of the attacks to assurethat critical business communication could continue uninterrupted. So itseemed fitting to donate the revenue from that tragic day to provide supportfor those directly impacted. We extend our deepest sympathies to all whohave been affected by this tragedy. And we send a message to the world thatAmericans stand united in times of adversity."
