Oct, 2001 : Oculan Selects ByteWorks for Managed Operations
📅 - Oculan Corporation (oculan.com), a provider of network andsystem management services, announced that it will have its financialaccounting system delivered as a service over the Internet.
"We estimate that outsourcing will save our company approximately $50,000annually," said Jason Matthews, senior accounting officer at OculanCorporation. "It also means we won't have to hire additional IT staff. Infact, our staff will be able to concentrate more time on developing andsupporting the product line that is our core business."
Oculan recently selected Kansas City, MO.-based ByteWorks ComputerConsulting (byteworkscc.com), a consulting firm specializing in support and solutions for business accounting and database needs, to provide Microsoft Great Plains financial accounting system. ByteWorks also will supply implementation and training services. ManagedOps, a ByteWorks partner, will provide its Managed Operations outsourcing service to host and deliver the application from its Bedford, N.H. data center.
Matthews said outsourcing is the ideal solution for the Raleigh, N.C.-basedcompany, which was recently voted numerous awards for product and serviceexcellence by computer reseller executives nationwide. "We launched ourbusiness in early July and our focus must remain on further developing ourproducts and building our partner channel. The Managed Operations servicerelieves us of the burden of managing an NT server, as well as all thesoftware upgrades," he explained.
The Managed Operations service includes secure, reliable, around-the-clocksystems engineering, network management, and help-desk support. ManagedOpsdelivers applications over a network for a cost-efficient and predictablemonthly fee.
Oculan will use several Dynamics modules, including: System manager, generalLedger, FRx Desktop, Receivables Management, Payables Management, BankReconciliation, Project Accounting, and Fixed Assets.
