CaraVita Selects Interliant to Host Critical Resident Information

(interliant.com), a leading global application service provider (ASP), announced that CaraVita Senior Care Management, a provider of senior care and assisted living communities, utilizes an INIT Managed Hosting solution to support its CaraSyst Web application, which provides caregivers with immediate access to resident medical and social information. Interliant's INIT Managed Hosting solutions provide the infrastructure support necessary to successfully implement Web-based applications requiring the highest degree of security, scalability, and processing power.

CaraVita operates 18 assisted living communities throughout the southeasternUnited States. In their nine locations with high-speed Internet access,CaraVita relies on the CaraSyst Web application to enhance overall care tothe resident population. With the CaraSyst application, caregivers usehand-held PCs that connect to the system via a wireless LAN to Interliant'sserver, giving each caregiver an immediate, live connection to residents'medical and social data anywhere within the facility. Taking advantage ofthe "available everywhere" nature of the Web, directors at each of thefacilities and corporate management can monitor and respond to issuesremotely.
Hosted in one of Interliant's state-of-the-art data centers, the CaraVitasolution consists of a Dell dedicated Microsoft Windows 2000 server withMicrosoft SQL 2000. As part of the INIT Managed Hosting solution, Interliantprovides CaraVita with a full-service managed hosting platform that includesa dedicated server, 24x7 support, and a secure and reliable physicalenvironment. In addition, Interliant tailored the solution to comply withHealth Insurance Portability And Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements.HIPAA, passed in 1996, requires medical organizations to adopt nationaluniform standards for the electronic transmission of certain types of healthinformation.
