Dec, 2001 : Internap Announces Routing Performance Improvements

📅 December 10, 2001 - Internap Network Services Corporation (internap.com -> inap.com), a provider of managed network services, announced today the upgrade of its networkto ASsimilator 3.0, Internap's third generation of intelligent routing technology.

Internap's initial analysis over its three largestService Points showed that Internap performed anaverage of 23 percent faster than each of the ninelargest Internet backbones in reaching destinationsmost heavily trafficked by Internap customers. Inaddition, when compared to the highest latency routesacross each of these backbones, Internap's routeselection showed an average 250 percent performanceimprovement. Depending on the provider and thegeography, the improvements were observed to besubstantially higher.

From Service Points in the United States, the U.K.,the Netherlands and Japan, ASsimilator 3.0 activelymeasures and selects optimal routes for sending dataover the major Internet backbones to which Internapconnects.
Because of this centrally managed networkarchitecture, Internap says it can offer a ServiceLevel Agreement that provides guarantees for latency,packet loss and network availability across all of themajor Internet backbones to which it connects.Measurement data are presented to customers throughPathView, a Web-based portal that not only comparesInternap's route selection to its guaranteedperformance levels but also to the route selection ofeach of the major backbones.
