📅 January 7, 2002 - Sprint Corp. announced today that both real-time software provider Centra (centra.com) and life science firm PerkinElmer, Inc. had selected Sprint E|Solutions (sprintesolutions.com) for managed web hosting and related services. Both clients will be managed from Sprint E|Solutions' Boston, Mass. Internet Center.

Centra first learned about Sprint E|Solutions after Sprint began using Centra services earlier this year for its University of Excellence, which serves the education needs of 80,000 Sprint employees worldwide. Sprint standardized on Centra to create stronger customer, partner and employee relationships through live, Web-based corporate learning and training at its University of Excellence.
Sprint sold PerkinElmer on its depth of e-business consulting experience, exceptional customer service and their comprehensive approach to creating end-to-end solutions. PerkinElmer sought a service provider that would enable them to streamline internal operations, more effectively implement channel partner Web sites and aid the company in developing a centralized communications portal for its global partners and suppliers.
Offering a Tier-1 global IP network, Sprint E|Solutions provides customers with application and Web hosting support, collocation, monitoring and reporting performance and IT consulting services. Its managed services include business continuity planning, security, and mobile computing solutions.

(algx.com) yesterday announced that it has acquired substantially all of the Intermedia Business Internet assets from WorldCom, Inc. (worldcom.com). Terms of the deal were not disclosed but Allegiance and WorldCom confirmed that the transaction is not a financially material event for either company. WorldCom was obligated to sell the IBI assets pursuant to a consent decree entered into by WorldCom and Intermedia in connection with their merger last year. That pact required that Clinton, Mississippi-based WorldCom to divest all of Intermedia Communications assets, except for its controlling interest in Web hosting company Digex Inc.
