(visualnetworks.com), a provider of performance management solutions for communications networks, announced that Equant (equant.com) has selected Visual UpTime 7.0 as a part of its performance management services used in providing global customers proactive performance monitoring and control of their networks. Equant will combine Visual UpTime 7.0 into the suite of capabilities of its award-winning integrated IP-VPN portfolio.
Visual UpTime 7.0, launched today in a separate press release, is a WANperformance management solution that provides visibility and reporting forprivate IP-VPNs, as well as validation for Class of Service offerings forprivate IP networks. Visual UpTime 7.0, available immediately, providesrealtime monitoring across the entire private network for fastertroubleshooting, increased availability of networked services and improvedcustomer service, the company says. Equant also plans to use Visual UpTimeto monitor Class of Service (CoS) from three of its network operationscenters located around the world.

The enhancements to Visual UpTime 7.0 allow it to monitor Layers 1 through 7of private IP-VPNs. Its CoS offerings allow customers to prioritize theirnetwork traffic to ensure data takes precedence over less criticalinformation traveling over the network. Visual UpTime 7.0 allows users todetermine how network utilization is affected when implementing a privateIP-VPN-or where additional bandwidth may be required or reduced to savenetwork costs.
Visual UpTime tracks access line, port and end-to-end IP circuit statistics,identifies most active users, and measures utilization by protocol type. Inaddition, Visual UpTime validates IP SLAs and CoS throughput at the serviceboundary.
