Jan, 2002 : RapidStream Announces "Secured by Check Point" Appliances
📅 - RapidStream, Inc. (rapidstream.com), a developer ofASIC-based Virtual Private Networking and Firewall solutions, announcedyesterday a family of high-performance compact security appliances designedto run Check Point Next Generation software from Check Point SoftwareTechnologies Ltd (checkpoint.com). All appliances will be available in Q1, 2002.
The family of RapidStream "Secured by Check Point" appliances sets newbenchmarks in network security performance for Check Point VPN-1, a leadingsecurity solution. It includes the RapidStream 11000, which delivers 1.2Gbps Check Point VPN-1 throughput and 2.0 Gbps Check Point FireWall-1throughput on a single appliance. Additional products within the "Secured byCheck Point" security appliance family are the RapidStream 8100 (300 MbpsVPN-1/600Mbps FireWall-1), the RapidStream 6100 (160 Mbps VPN-1/270MbpsFireWall-1) and the RapidStream 2100 (70 Mbps VPN-1/240Mbps FireWall-1).RapidStream is poised to further exploit the capability of its technologyand introduce higher performance models to meet evolving market needs.
RapidStream is one of the first to deliver breakthrough VPN-1 performance ona single appliance by leveraging the Check Point SecureXL performanceframework. The security decisions made by Check Point software running onthe main CPU are executed by one or more RapidCore chips, RapidStream'sprogrammable security ASIC. RapidStream's architecture allows customers tolinearly scale appliance performance to any level by adding additionalRapidCore ASICs. RapidCore ASICs perform parallel processing of VPN-1 andFireWall-1 functions, Network Address translation, Denial of Service attackprotection, and Quality of Service functions by using the embedded four RISCCPUS and embedded memory cache.
"With RapidStream's architecture, the data path traffic 'cuts through' theRapidCore processors and not the appliance's central CPU, eliminating atypical performance bottleneck: the system bus," said Vince Liu, RapidStreampresident and CEO. "The execution of Check Point Next Generation software onthe RapidStream platform matches network wire speeds so users are notimpeded by security measures, nor limited by the number of sessions that canbe supported. Productivity is enhanced and bandwidth purchased by theorganization is not wasted, improving the company's return on investment ."
RapidStream "Secured by Check Point" security appliances deliver improvednetwork throughput in a compact package while supporting up to 600,000sessions and up to 50,000 concurrent VPN tunnels. They are characterized bylow transmission latency, making them ideal for securing multimediacommunications, and the performance is unaffected by very large firewallpolicy tables.
RapidStream "Secured by Check Point" appliances can be deployed as gatewayswith an embedded management server or as enforcement points inconfigurations managed centrally with Check Point's Enterprise ManagementConsole, Site Manager-1 or Provider-1 management platforms. In particular, they can be configured and managed using the new Check Point Visual PolicyEditor (VPE). VPE gives security managers a comprehensive picture of theirsecurity deployment, allows direct edits on mapped objects and visuallyillustrates the effect of security rules.
RapidStream "Secured by Check Point" appliances are available through CheckPoint and RapidStream channel partners. The following U.S. list prices arefor the RapidStream hardware. Applicable Check Point software licenses canbe purchased at an additional cost:
RapidStream 2100 (US Dollars) $5,000, available for immediate delivery.RapidStream 6100 (US Dollars) $15,000, available for immediate delivery.RapidStream 8100 (US Dollars) $35,000, available in Feb. 2002.
RapidStream 11000 (US Dollars) $95,000, available in March 2002.
