Feb, 2002 : BellSouth Signs Wholesale Agreement With Qwest

📅 February 6, 2002 - BellSouth Corporation (bellsouth.com) and QwestCommunications International Inc. (qwest.com -> lumen.com) announced today that they have signed a wholesale services agreement, to take effect immediately.

Under the agreement, BellSouth will purchase $350 million of services fromQwest over a four-year period and will add this portfolio of products andservices to the BellSouth long distance, data and Internet suite ofservices.
"BellSouth and Qwest have been successful in providing customers in theSoutheast with a full suite of communications services. This wholesaleagreement will further enhance our ability to access the Qwest data networkand portfolio of retail products for our customers," said BellSouth chairand CEO Duane Ackerman.
"We have had a very successful coordinated marketing relationship withBellSouth winning the confidence of business customers throughout theSoutheast. We look forward to being a wholesale provider of long-distanceand data services as BellSouth expands its offerings," said Qwest chairmanand CEO Joseph P. Nacchio.
Separately, BellSouth and Qwest agreed to terminate a previous purchaseagreement.
