Feb, 2002 : Sphera Launches Platform Co-developed With Microsoft
📅 - Hosting automation firm Sphera (sphera.com) said today its flagship product HostingDirector is now available in an enhanced version for the Microsoft Windows 2000 Operating System.
HostingDirector is an automation platform that allows Web hosting companies to cut costs and resources by providing services to users through an easy to use graphic user interface. In order to build an enhanced Windows 2000 version of its product, which is also available for Linux and Solaris, Sphera tapped its long-standing relationship with software giant Microsoft. "It was easy to present our architecture approach? and get [Microsoft] excited," said Sphera CEO Tamar Naor. "They participated in the development in the product."
Naor said one of the features of HostingDirector version 3.25 for Windows 2000 is that the cross-platform solution, which supports Windows, Solaris and Linux, was developed from scratch instead of modified from another version of the suite for a different Operating System. "We did not just port the platform to a Microsoft offering? it was developed with the Microsoft team around Microsoft technology," Naor said. "It's not confined or masked in UNIX technology."
Naor also said the Windows edition includes features based on continuous customer input. Sphera "put a lot of emphasis on the experience of the end users" for the company's Windows 2000 version, Naor said. HostingDirector's Windows 2000 edition can be fully integrated with Microsoft applications, including IIS, SQL Server, Active Directory, DNS and others.
Sphera recently secured $20 million in a second round of financing, and is headquartered in Boston. The company also has offices in Washington, D.C., London, and has an R&D facility in Tel Aviv, Israel.
