📅 - Path 1 Network Technologies Inc. (path1.net) today announced that it has formed a partnership with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), the nation's largest employee-owned research and engineering company. With SAIC (saic.com), Path 1 will create and deploy Internet Protocol (IP) networks capable of delivering real-time, broadcast quality video distribution in addition to regular IP traffic.
The alliance will target broadcasters, governments, schools, and universities, in the U.S. and Canada that are designing or installing networks that include broadcast video capabilities. ?SAIC's alliance with Path 1 will enable us to provide additional services to our customers as they look to IP as their primary conduit to distribute video content and they move to converge all their networking requirements,? said SAIC Senior Vice President, Carl L. Silva.

📅 - Alcatel Awarded Optics Contract for Sea-Me-We Network - Alcatel (alcatel.com), an optical networking provider, has been awarded a $45 million contract by the Sea-Me-We 3 (mw3.fcr.fr) consortium to upgrade the network to support 10 Gbit/s transmission, representing a 40 percent capacity increase. Alcatel is the sole provider for the terrestrial portion of the project, including Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing systems and end-to-end network management.
