FASTNET Expands Into Princeton And Secures U of P Partnership
📅 - FASTNET Corp., an Internet services provider, announced today it has completed its network expansion into the Princeton, New Jersey area. According to company, FASTNET (hwww.fast.net) plans to expand into Princeton's 10,000 commercial, research, health care, educational, and government entities.
The company will now offer a full range of products and services over IRU licensed fiber optic facilities, including private network transport services at handoff speeds ranging from T1 through Gigabit Ethernet (GigE).
In addition, FASTNET announced that it will provide Layer 2 Ethernet services with the University of Pennsylvania's MAGPI group, as part of its fulfilled partnership. MAGPI provides Internet2 service for university and research applications via its GigaPop connection in Philadelphia.

Allowing customers to efficiently transfer data between the Princeton region and Philadelphia, FASTNET's Gigabit Ethernet service is ideal for offsite storage and disaster recovery applications.
?We designed our network infrastructure for maximum efficiency and flexibility,? said Phillip Weller, CTO of FASTNET. ?Deploying layered services on fiber optic facilities gives consumers the option to choose the right service level for their needs, at a cost well below traditional carrier facilities.
