Mar 14, 2002 : Signafor Adds New Networking Tools

📅 - Signafor, Inc. (signafor.com), a developer of IP-based QoStechnologies, announced the availability of two new networking tools, RapidFailure Recovery and Congestion Avoidance as part of Signafor's IP ServicesPlatform, allowing service providers to deliver differentiated realtimeservices.

Signafor's president and CTO, Sham Chakravorty, said, "These new networkingtools have long been sought by network engineers and managers because theysolve the most persistent and troubling problem in today's networks, failuredue to congestion. Without manual intervention and without added heavyprocessing, these tools enable networks to self-correct and avoid costlyfailures."
Signafor's switched IP QoS platform creates hop-by-hop virtual connectionsin the network using the common routing protocols. This allows Signafor toroute traffic locally without the need for new permanent route setups, packet labeling and fragmentation, or label management servers. When thereis congestion at a node or the node fails, Signafor is able to automaticallycreate a new path and seamlessly maintain the user session.
"We recently awarded a contract to an offshore software house to build awire-speed processor version of switched IP," said Carol Anderson, thecompany's chair. "We are seeing tremendous traction in the marketplace andwith these new products we are set to begin trials with two major customers. The last year has not been kind to networking companies, but we haveweathered the worst and with our unique and exceptional technologies."
