Digital V6 Releases KVM Over IP Device With Remote Power Control

📅 April 26, 2002 - Digital V6 (digitalv6.com), a Canadian hardware and software firm specializing in remote network management solutions, recently released the "Kaveman PWR8", the first keyboard, video, mouse (KVM) over IP device that provides remote power control.

Using the Kaveman PWR8, Web host providers can control the power supply to eight servers directly attached to a power control strip. Network administrators can cycle power, reset power based on pre-selected events, or switch servers on and off using the device's GUI. Administrators can also access the controls for the device using a Web browser or virtual network computing (VNC) viewer.
In addition to remote power control, the device's functions include typical KVM over IP features such as: remote hardware reset; BIOS-level access; and full keyboard and mouse control. The IP KVM device also automatically monitors server activity and notifies administrators if their server behaves erratically.
