📅 - Global telecommunications group Cable & Wireless (cw.com) announced on Monday that it has signed an agreement with global automotive e-business exchange Covisint (covisint.com) for an additional three years of Exodus Internet services in the US.
The contract extension, says C&W, allows the companies to build on their shared operations, furthering their ability to implement Covisint's business strategy. The company's site and transactions are secured, stored and monitored by Exodus, handling the on-site responsibilities in the Cable & Wireless hosting facility.
According to C&W, Covisint launched its automotive e-business exchange with Exodus more than a year ago. The exchange, designed to allow automakers and suppliers to conduct business electronically, facilitates more than 100 million supply-chain procurement transactions per month.
A central hub where OEMs and suppliers come together in a business environment, Covisint was designed with an emphasis on making information accessible and visible within a secure online environment. The company's online tools allow its customers to compress planning cycles and enhance supply chain planning.
"Our OEM and supplier customers are faced with enormous cost and time-to-market pressures. Covisint has to focus on serving our customers and remaining competitive," says Kevin Vasconi, chief technology officer, for Covisint. "Exodus has a thorough understanding of our needs and objectives, and is able to support Covisint's efforts by providing the best and most appropriate technology, professional services and security expertise."
Marketed as Exodus in the US, Cable & Wireless says it offers a complete suite of Internet services, including managed hosting, co-location, managed security and managed storage services, which it is integrating with Digital Island's family of content delivery and streaming services.
