Aug, 2002 : Plesk Announces "Migration Express" Program

📅 August 7, 2002 - Automated Web hosting software provider Plesk (plesk.com) announced on Wednesday that it has launched its ?Migration Express? program, designed to help customers migrate from its competitors? control panels to the Plesk Server Administrator platform.

The Migration Express program is a combination of software tools and professional services, says Plesk. As part of its introductory promotion, Plesk is targeting Ensim, offering users of that company's WEBppliance for Linux free professional services.
Plesk says it will roll out other Migration Express packages and promotions for the Sphera HostingDirector, Sun Cobalt RaQ3 and RaQ4 appliances, and other control panels.
"In keeping with our customer-first philosophy, we developed Migration Express in response to the requests from customers and prospects that are eager to make the move from WEBppliance to PSA," said George Pappas, president and CEO of Plesk. "After a thorough analysis of the requirements, Migration Express represents the most comprehensive collection of tools and professional services designed explicitly to help these data center professionals rapidly realize a greater ROI on their server infrastructures."
The Migration Express for WEBppliance product includes migration of all client and domain information into the PSA database, minimal server downtime, content migration to PSA hosts, migration of email account settings and migration of FTP and email passwords to the PSA encrypted format.

📅 Aug 6, 2002 - Digex to Cut 20 Percent of Workforce - Managed Web hosting provider Digex Incorporated (digex.com) said on Tuesday that it would lay off 200 employees, or 20 percent of its work force, in an effort to cut its expenses. Digex's cost-cutting measures come following the bankruptcy of telecommunications giant WorldCom, which owns a stake of more than 90 percent in the Web hosting firm.
