Sep, 2002 : Electric Mail Launches Business Continuity Services

📅 - Business email service provider The Electric Mail Company Inc. (electricmail.com) announced on Thursday that it has launched a set of Business Continuity Services.

Designed for companies that host their own email servers, says Electric Mail, the platform-independent services ensure that companies can always access primary email accounts, regardless of service interruptions.
"Industry analysts worldwide have emphasized the importance of email communication in business continuity and disaster recovery planning. Not only is email important to daily business productivity, but it is also the single most effective way to communicate, collaborate and expedite the recovery of a company, post-disaster," said Adam Hyde, Director of Product Strategy for The Electric Mail Company. "In the wake of increased pressure on IT staff to lead business continuity planning, this new service enables them to transparently and cost effectively protect their users, ensuring uninterrupted access to email in any eventuality."
The Electric Mail business continuity services work by duplicating email accounts at the company's data facilities, in anticipation of an outage. These accounts can be accessed on a "hot standby" basis, with users? regular email addresses, through a standard Web browser. The service also provides a short-term archive of a user's sent and received email.
Electric Mail says the continuity service will allow companies to give suppliers, customers and partners the impression of business as usual, even during and following outages in regular service.
