Sep, 2002 : HP Posts Record SSL Transaction Benchmark

📅 - Computer equipment maker HP (hp.com) said on Monday that it has set world-record benchmarks with its midrange and entry-level servers running the HP-UX 11i operating environment on PA-RISC and Intel Itanium 2 processors.

The company says its 4-, 8- and 16-processor servers demonstrated superior performance on the SPECweb99_SSL benchmark, widely accepted as a meaningful measure of a server's ability to handle encrypted Internet transactions.
The 16-processor HP Server rp8400 achieved a record 4,400 simultaneous connections for the SPECweb99_SSL benchmark. The 8-processor HP Server rp7410 achieved 2,325 simultaneous connections. HP says the benchmark results reinforce the company's strong position in the market for UNIX operating environments.
The company also demonstrated strong performance with its Itanium 2-based servers, achieving the fastest results for a 4-processor system on the SPECweb99_SSL benchmark. The Itanium 2-based HP Server rx5670 achieved 1,520 simultaneous connections.
