Sep 11, 2002 : Sybase Ships RDBMS for Jaguar Server
📅 - Enterprise infrastructure company Sybase Inc. (sybase.com) said on Tuesday that its Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) 12.5 for Mac OS X, will be available later this month, joining the free Developer's Edition of ASE 12.5 currently available for download.
An enterprise-class relational database management system (RDBMS), ASE is designed for transaction-intensive applications and includes advanced e-business capabilities.
The solution provides support for Java and XML technologies, allowing users to deploy high-performance, sacalable RDBMS on the Mac operating system known as "Jaguar."
"ASE for Jaguar Server combines the best of both worlds - Sybase's high performance, scalable database with Apple's legendary ease of use," said Dr. Raj Nathan, senior vice president and general manager, Sybase Enterprise Solutions Division. "With this combination, we are pleased to provide the Mac community the same superior database capabilities with low total cost of ownership advantages that our other ASE customers enjoy today."
Due for release on September 23, ASE 12.5 for Mac OS X Server 10.2 uses the Apple installer and supports the company's new Rendezvous configuration technology. ASE 12.5 automatically handles client discovery and reconfigures the database to reflect changes to server configuration. It will also generate traps that can activate pagers, send emails or engage other management actions.
The product also includes Sybase's XML Management Package, offering a single point of access to developer software, services, technical information and collaboration with other developers.
