📅 September 11, 2002 - Telecommunications carrier TELUS (telus.com) said on Tuesday that it has earned the SunTone certification developed by Sun Microsystems.

Let by Sun, the SunTone program is a collaborative industry initiative designed to ensure quality service through the auditing of hosting service provider infrastructure, operational practices, hardware, software and overall service delivery.
"Receiving SunTone certification underscores our commitment to provide high-quality services to our customers," says Mark Schnarr, executive vice-president, Business Marketing at TELUS. "We have extensive capabilities in our hosting solutions offerings and are proud to be a supplier of a SunTone certified service."
TELUS's hosting services include managed and shared hosting, colocation, e-security, intrusion detection and streaming media. The company delivers these services through its network of intelligent Internet data centers, which TELUS says deliver a new standard in Web hosting solutions.
TELUS is also a member of the SunTone Architecture Council for Storage/Application Services, a committee of technical experts that provides a forum for companies with SunTone certified solutions to affect SunTone specifications and address industry developments.
