Sep 26, 2002 : Miva Announces Virtual Machine 4.02

miva.com logo📅 - E-commerce platform developer Miva Corporation (Miva.com) announced on Wednesday that it has made available the Miva Virtual Machine (MVM) 4.02 for Unix and Windows Web server platforms.

According to Miva, MVM lets developers write applications once and run those applications, unchanged, on a variety of platforms.
Along with MVM 4.02, Miva is releasing Miva Script Compiler, which can compile applications for MVM. The platforms covered by the current shipping include Linux, Solaris, SGI Irix, BSDI, FreeBSD, Sun Cobalt and Windows. The company plans to support Mac OS X with future platforms.
Licensing for MVM is free, says Miva, and available directly from the company and through its network of after-market developers, hosting companies, VARs and technology partners. Interpreted Miva Script has already been licensed by more than 50,000 developers.
"MVM and the associated compiler opens a new market for developers who want to write once and run on a multitude of servers without having to pay costly royalties or invest in difficult to learn and expensive development environments," says Miva CEO Joe Austin. "Because of the easy-to-learn XML syntax of Miva Script, a typical developer is productive within hours."
