Oct, 2002 : Incognito Provides DNS for UK MoD Project

📅 - DNS management solution developer Incognito Software (incognito.com) announced on Friday that it has signed a contract valued at $1.4 million Canadian to supply its DNS Commander to General Dynamics Canada as part of the UK Ministry of Defense's BOWMAN system.

The BOWMAN system, says Incognito, will provide a secure voice and data IP network for the UK Armed Services. The DNS Commander extensible domain name system solution will be deployed in thousands of land vehicles, aircraft and ships to provide fail-proof domain name and directory services.
General Dynaics evaluated several prominent DNS solutions, including BIND and Microsoft's DNS as part of its decision-making process, but settled on DNS Commander.
"Given the needs of the BOWMAN program, Incognito's DNS Commander product had the best fit in terms of features, reliability, and price," says Andrew Greenslade, BOWMAN product manager at General Dynamics Canada. "Integrating DNS Commander into the BOWMAN program will fulfill General Dynamics' mandate to provide a secure, reliable, and robust DDNS solution."
In a deployment including thousands of administrators managing DNS Commander in possibly hostile combat environments, an easy-to-use and redundant interface was a critical requirement, says Incognito. DNS Commander provides the ability to make quick changes that are replicated instantly to backup servers. If a primary server goes down, an Incognito backup DNS server can take its place with no downtime or loss of updates.
