Feb, 2003 : Cisco Unveils Rack-Unit Router for Network Edge
📅 - Cisco Systems (cisco.com) today introduced the Cisco 7301, which the company says is the industry's highest-performing single-rack-unit router designed for Internet/campus gateways and managed service providers.
The router is part of the Cisco 7300 Series routers, which are optimized for IP/MPLS services at the customer network edge, where service providers and enterprises connect. The company also announced a port adapter carrier card for the Cisco 7304 router, allowing the Cisco 7304 to accept existing Cisco 7000 Series port adapters. The company says this will help to preserve more than $4 billion of customer investments in Cisco 7000 Series network adapters. "The interface flexibility and built-in Gigabit Ethernet in these feature-rich routers, coupled with the right form factor, will help enterprises and service providers deploy new applications and services with confidence while driving down their total cost of ownership," said Lele Nardin, vice president and general manager of the Midrange Routing Business Unit at Cisco.
