Jun, 2003 : AT&T Enhances Hosting Transition Program

📅 - AT&T (att.com) announced today it is ?aggressively enhancing? its transition program to respond to the needs of customers that are leaving distressed Web hosting service providers.

AT&T's transition program is designed to ease the challenges of migrating Web hosting operations through the provision of several incentives, including flexible financing options, complimentary installation, expedited contracting, service assurance guarantees, and aggressive and immediate pricing.
?Our first priority is serving customers who already are stranded or fear that possibility as providers turn off the lights in their Web hosting facilities,? said Dave Dorman, AT&T chairman and CEO. ?While others are scaling down their investments or even abandoning this space, AT&T has forged forward and fundamentally integrated our Internet Data Centers into our networking architecture. That gives us tremendous economies of scale, as well as the flexibility to offer a valuable set of services, options and capabilities to companies whose hosting and ?net? applications are the lifeblood of their business.?
The Hosting Transition Program comes in two packages.
Under a standard package, AT&T will waive one month of recurring charges, offer customers a hardware loaner or trade-in/up program, and present several financing options. Customers will also receive complimentary project management support, engineering support and equipment transport up to 300 miles. The custom package includes additional services such as installation for Internet connectivity, various AT&T managed services, engineering support and migration plan analysis.
AT&T reports that it has signed 30 customers to the program.
The announcement comes in the wake of several recent high profile exits from the hosting segment by the likes of Cable & Wireless and Sprint. In this environment, several providers have launched incentive programs in an attempt to attract customers that are looking to migrate their hosting operations.
